FinTech North confirms expansion plans as it prepares for 2019
FinTech North has confirmed it is to expand its events programme to new locations across the north as it seeks to continue its mission to help build the northern FinTech community.
In 2019, FinTech North will deliver its most comprehensive events programme ever, with four main conferences to be held in Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle and an expanded programme of seminars and special interest groups also to be announced and rolled out across multiple locations across the north. The organisation, which operates on a not-for-profit basis, recently appointed Chris Sier as chairman and also intends to create a new full time role for a marketing and events coordinator to help deliver the expanded events programme.
Already this year, major conferences have been held in Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool, and a series of monthly breakfast seminars have been hosted in Leeds with regular seminars also set to commence in Manchester from October. The foundations for next year will continue to be put in place over the remainder of 2018, when FinTech North aims to deliver its first ever events in Newcastle, Harrogate and Sheffield, which will take the total number of events organised to over 25 since its launch in 2016.
Chris Sier, Chairman of FinTech North, says:
“Our aim moving forward is to broaden FinTech North’s reach and play an increasingly significant role in building the FinTech community across the north. We will also continue to be highly collaborative and are always interested to hear from organisations who are interested in hosting, speaking, or supporting our plans and events, or indeed who are looking to bring their own FinTech events to the north.”
Dan Rajkumar, Director of FinTech North and White Label Crowdfunding, says:
“I’m proud of the progress we have made since launching FinTech North, and am always delighted when I hear about relationships, opportunities and value that have been created from our events. I am particularly excited that we have reached a point in our development whereby we can create a new full time role, to help support the growth of FinTech North moving forward.”
Henri Murison, Chief Executive of The Northern Powerhouse Partnership, says:
“I’m delighted to hear FinTech North will be expanding its activities. Financial services is hugely important to driving the North’s ambition and FinTech is probably the first sector to have worked across the Northern Powerhouse as one ecosystem. FinTech North has played in key role in this development and if we continue to collaborate across the region we can make great progress in building an international FinTech centre of excellence in the Northern Powerhouse, building on our longstanding dominance in retail financial services.”
Since its inception in 2016 FinTech North has organised 21 events, attracting over 1800 delegates from over 400 organisations and speakers drawn from 12 different countries. FinTech North was co-created by Leeds-based FinTech firm White Label Crowdfunding and regional strategy consultancy Whitecap Consulting, which counts Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle amongst its five UK offices.
