A New Initiative Off to a Flying Start
This year, FinTech North proudly launched the Pitch & Present Masterclass as part of the Innovation@Leeds initiative, funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund. Designed to empower local entrepreneurs, startups and enterprises, the programme equips participants with essential pitching and presentation skills to accelerate their growth and impact.
Participants in the masterclass benefit from over 7.5 hours of dedicated support, delivered through a dynamic blend of in-person workshops, virtual meetings, peer group networking, and mentor guidance. This blended approach, designed to be accessible and low-impact on calendars, ensures that each mentee gains practical insights, hones their communication skills, and builds confidence in presenting their ideas.
Central to the programme’s success are our brilliant mentors—trusted members of the FinTech North community who possess exceptional leadership, communication and presentation skills. These mentors have generously dedicated their time and expertise to support the cohort, providing invaluable guidance and encouragement throughout their journey.
The masterclass is off to a flying start, with two impactful sessions already completed:
– Session One: We connected virtually with our brilliant cohort, each bringing unique expertise, perspectives, and goals. We also heard from our dedicated mentors—trusted community members eager to support the next wave of innovators.
– Session Two: In an in-person workshop, hosted by Bruntwood SciTech at Platform in central Leeds, participants were inspired by Kathy Brooke, an exceptional public speaking coach, who shared valuable insights on effective communication and confident delivery.
Looking ahead, the masterclass continues with:
– Session Three: A virtual workshop, focused on crafting compelling slide decks to enhance storytelling and engagement.
– Session Four: A practice session hosted by Bruntwood SciTech at West Village in Central Leeds, allowing participants to refine their pitches with feedback from industry experts and support from the cohort.
