​FinTech North is delighted to announce its 2025 Newcastle Conference, marking our fifth year in the region to celebrate its ever-evolving FinTech ecosystem. Continuing our tour of the city’s brightest and best venues, this year’s flagship event will be hosted at one of the region’s favourite spaces, Wylam Brewery, on 1st July 2025. Situated in Exhibition Park, just outside Newcastle city centre, Wylam Brewery offers a unique blend of historical charm and modern amenities, making it an ideal setting for our conference and evening social.

Established in 2000, Wylam Brewery began in Heddon-on-the-Wall, Northumberland, before relocating in 2016 to the Grade II listed Palace of Arts in Exhibition Park, Newcastle. As the last remaining structure from the 1929 North East Coast Exhibition, the building reflects the region’s industrial heritage. Wylam’s move not only preserved this historic site but transformed it into a vibrant hub for collaboration, creativity, and community.

The brewery’s innovative and partnership-driven approach is evident in its collaborations with craft brewers such as Cloudwater, Magic Rock, Northern Monk, and Thornbridge. This spirit of cooperation aligns with the FinTech sector’s emphasis on innovation and shared growth. By hosting our conference here, we celebrate the power of collaboration in driving economic success, making Wylam Brewery the perfect venue to bring together the North East’s thriving FinTech ecosystem.

Over the years, we’ve witnessed the North East’s significant growth in its FinTech sector. According to Whitecap Consulting’s North East FinTech Strategy 2022-25, the region has seen a 58% increase in the number of firms operating in the sector and an 81% increase in FinTech startups and scaleups over the last three years. Notably, 76% of these firms are based in Newcastle, Gateshead, or Sunderland. Major financial services brands such as Atom Bank, Kani, Cascade, and Sage are headquartered here, highlighting the region’s robust and dynamic FinTech ecosystem. ​

The resilience and innovation inherent in the Northern spirit are particularly strong in the North East. Our previous events in the region have seen some of our highest engagement levels, and we eagerly anticipate returning this summer for our biggest one yet. We encourage attendees to embrace sustainable transport, such as walking through the beautiful Exhibition Park or utilising public transport to reach the venue, aligning with our theme of green tech and purpose-driven FinTech.​
