Liverpool’s flourishing FinTech scene in spotlight as stellar conference line-up announced
FinTech North is returning to Liverpool next week, showcasing the blossoming FinTech sector in the city region as well as some of the biggest players in the UK FinTech scene.
Taking place on Tuesday 18th March at the iconic Royal Liver Building, the event will focus on InsurTech and WealthTech – both strong markets in the Liverpool city region – as well as customer centricity, risk and FinTech innovation in the region.
Challenger bank Monzo will be making its FinTech North conference debut, offering its thoughts on the UK economic outlook. Other speakers include Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, the Department for Business and Trade, regional tech accelerator Baltic Ventures, and Liverpool’s very own wealth management heavyweight Rathbones.
Mastercard will also be delivering an insightful keynote which will delve into spending behaviours in Liverpool during the city’s hosting of the Eurovision Song Contest, and how policy-makers can harness these datapoints to support economic growth across the UK.
This year’s conference will debut a brand-new format for attendees, with the day being split into two distinct sessions. For the first ever time, attendees can purchase tickets for the morning session, afternoon session or both.
The conference will also be followed immediately by a social, adding to the networking time on offer to delegates. The social is sponsored by Sedulo and will be hosted at its £1.4m office suite in the historic Exchange Flags building.
The Liverpool conference is being hosted in partnership with Bruntwood SciTech, Mastercard, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Vilja Solutions, Adoptech, promotional partners Professional Liverpool and international sponsors Madrid Investment Attraction. DTM Legal is name-badge sponsor for the event.
A recent report from Whitecap Consulting estimated that Liverpool FinTechs generate £218m GVA added a year for the regional economy. Delegates will be able to hear first-hand from regional success stories like cash flow platform Local Loop Merseyside, student financial management app Scholar Saver, and international businesses Quikly Pay and Tegeria – both of which have recently expanded into Liverpool.
The quickfire showcase session, which platforms up-and-coming FinTechs, will be returning this year in a new form. This time, three dedicated sessions throughout the day will group together select FinTechs operating in the same sub-sectors or with common goals.
They will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Credit Canary, which received significant investment after appearing in the showcase at FinTech North’s Manchester conference in November 2024.
Joe Roche, General Manager at FinTech North comments:
“It’s an honour to be back in Liverpool for our first major conference of 2025. There’s a jam-packed agenda, so attendees will get some really strong insights into the city region’s strengths, as well as being able to hear from some huge international players – some of whom have made Liverpool their UK home.
“We’ve listened to attendee feedback from previous conferences, and we’re really excited to be trialling a brand-new event format this year, with more invaluable networking time built into the day and a stronger thematic approach.”
